La Mixta Criolla is a music and dance ensemble inspired by the rich and diverse musical culture of Puerto Rico and the wider Caribbean.  The band's repertoire of originals and funky renditions of classic pieces, features a variety of swinging Latin Caribbean grooves, from plena, bomba, guaracha jíbara, seis and aguinaldo, to merengue, son, rumba, cumbia and salsa.  And the band is as comfortable, and passionate, playing a slow seis con décimas, a bolero, or a classic danza.   La Mixta's recently released debut CD AfroTaíno (2011)  has been receiving outstanding reviews from dancers, DJs, and Latin music lovers from California, to New York, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and beyond!
